Sea Camp provides an authentic hands-on experience introducing your child to animals native to Coastal Georgia. Our engaging program teaches campers by way of the classroom, the beach, field trips and outdoor fun. Campers will learn through creative activities, conducting experiments, collecting sea life and engaging with nature, all while developing an appreciation for our coast and its inhabitants.
SEA CAMP HIGHLIGHTS
TREK A muddy adventure will teach campers about our coastal marshes and the sea life that inhabit it.
PROTECT Learn about endangered species and how to protect them.
EXPLORE From the mast of our very own pirate ship, campers will explore the Blackbeard Island Wildlife Refuge.
TOUR Campers will get a behind the scenes overview of our galleries, our animals and how they are cared for.
CREATE Crafting projects will provide campers with a creative approach to coastal concepts.
SEIN A hands on experience with a net and the ocean will teach campers how to identify fish and other sea life.
DISCOVER Campers will discover first-hand the wonders of dolphins aboard a dolphin boat cruise.
IDENTIFY Campers will learn important information about sharks and jellyfish, and how to identify them.
Sea Campers do not go swimming; however, we do ankle-and waist-deep activities. All in-water activities are conducted on Tybee’s beach with certified life guards are on duty.
WHAT TO WEAR
- Sandals or some type of slip-on shoes
- Wear a bathing suit with a cover-up Tee shirt
WHAT TO BRING
Please label all items with camper’s name.
- Two towels
- One change of clothes
- An extra swim suit (for morning and afternoon beach sessions)
- Refillable water bottle
- Spray sunscreen
- Lunch, morning and afternoon snacks, including beverages
- Hand sanitizer (Provided, but bring if you prefer.)

Registration for camp closes at 1:00 pm on the Friday before the upcoming camp week.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
The health and safety of your child is of the utmost importance to us. We have implemented all of the CDC recommended health and safety guidelines. Please check your child’s temperature each morning prior to camp and look for any symptoms related to the COVID-19 virus.
In accepting your online registration, the Tybee Island Marine Science Center reserves a place for your child and hires staff according to the registrations paid. Therefore, refunds are processed according to the schedule below.
