2007 CLASSES
Mini Beach Explorers
In this special hour, young campers are
introduced to the beach, and many sea creatures as they make
friends and have fun! Campers will hit the beach to learn about
sea shells, sand and stones. They will learn about fintastic
fish, touch and see amazing creatures that live under the sea,
and design a home for a hermit crab.
Pre-K – upcoming kindergarten, 3 day camp: M, W,
F
June 4
- 8 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
July 9 - 13 from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.
July 30 - August 3 from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m.
Under The Sea
Come join us to discover the amazing animals that live under the
sea! Campers help set up an aquarium, collect creatures and
feed them. Sea Campers discover marine animals such as jellies,
mole crabs, clams, and fish as they explore the sand and surf on
Tybee Island. Using observation, campers will understand how
animals are perfectly adapted to live in a specific
environment. Through visits to the touch tank and the aquarium,
sea campers will learn the life cycles of turtles, crabs and
whelks.

Ocean Observers
Come to the Tybee Island Marine Science Center to learn all
about marine biology! Campers will patrol the beach for
loggerhead sea turtle nests, learn about sea turtles and other
types of turtles. Through hands-on activities, campers will
discover amazing marine animals like dolphins, sharks, and other
fish. These campers will hit the beach for seining, beach
walks, sand sifting and shell hunting. Bring a blank t-shirt on
Wednesday for Fish Printing.

11 - 15 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
June 25 - 29 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
July 16 - 20 from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m.
July 30 - August 3 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Jr. Marine Scientists: Amazing
Invertebrates!
Using scientific techniques and hands-on activities campers
will explore the wild and wonderful world of marine
invertebrates. Sea Campers will discover the secrets of sea
shells and the power of plankton. Campers will investigate
jellies, anemones, crabs, sand dollars, sea urchins, squid and
snails. Join us for crabbing, feeding frenzies, squid
dissection, and much, much, more!

June 11 - 15 from
1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
July 9 - 13 from 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Registration Instructions
To
register for Sea Camp 2007, please fill out the registration
form completely. Payment is due at registration. Checks should
be made payable to TIMSC. Once we receive your registration, a
confirmation notice will be sent. Sea Camp fills up quickly.
Please register as soon as possible.

Camp
Selection: Please
register your child according to the grade he or she will be
entering.
T-shirts:
T-shirts are free with camp registration and will be given out
on the first day of camp. To ensure the proper size t-shirt
please register before May 31. T-shirt sizes cannot be
exchanged. Campers registered after May 31 will receive a
T-shirt, but are not guaranteed their first choice size.
Cancellation
Policy: Cancellations
two weeks in advance (14 days) receive a full refund.
Cancellations 1 week in advance receive a 50% refund. No other
refunds will be given after this time.
Class
Size: The maximum
class size is 12. Each Sea Camp session is taught by a TIMSC
Marine Educator or certified teacher, with at least two Sea Camp
Volunteers.
Drop
Off/Pick Up: Drop off
and pick up will be at the side entrance of the building.
Please arrive 5 minutes early for drop off and pick up as all
students must be checked in and out through TIMSC Staff. Please
include the name of all people who may pick up your child on the
registration form.
