For Teachers and Group Leaders

Teacher Workshops

Teacher workshops are offered for professional development throughout the year.  Workshops increase awareness of the marine environment, knowledge, and skills.  Pull a seine net in the surf and identify local fish, crabs, and other marine life.  Explore the intertidal zone, walk on the beach to identify shells and other sea life, hike in a maritime forest, and visit a tidal marsh.  Learn how "salt pans" are formed, and why marsh hammocks are important.  Teacher workshops focus on barrier island ecology with a variety of programs and activities.  Squid dissection labs and invertebrate labs are exciting ways to learn!  Contact TIMSC for more information, to arrange a group workshop for your school, or to join a scheduled workshop.  Fees vary by workshop, topics, and times.
